The New York Nicks!

It was fun to imagine in the offseason, but watching Nicks Johnson and Swisher grind out their ab's through the first two games of the season, just portends great things from pair of on base machines this season. OBP Jesus, in his return has been tutored by Coach Long to get his legs more involved in his swing, and though it hasn't added any hits into his .500 OBP mix thus far, he was showing his old power in ST and it's just a matter of time before the doubles and homers come. For his part Nick Swisher was told to "spread out" by long, a la ARod and Pujols, and that has lead to a quieter bat, and seemingly better contact from Swish through the Spring and these first two games. Nick the Stick is pretty much quaranteed to have a .400+ OBP this year - that's just what he does. But Nick Swisher's BA component could rise to combine with his 90-100 walks and put him on the right side of .400, too. And when you add those two to Jeter, ARod, Tex and Po who are all capable of putting up monster OBP's and you're gonna grind the other teams pitchers into dust by the 5th, like Yanks are supposed to. There are just a ton of great AB's to look forward to this season, and you know, plate patience can be a little contagious. We may even be talking about Curtis GRINDerson and Robbie CanOBP before long. Go Yanks!

While not saying it's 100 percent, Girardi "leaning" toward not using Joba tonight because it would be 3 of 4 days

If Gardner can post a high OBP from the nine-hole, this offense is going to be scary good.

Rich,

He doesn't seem to like to pitch any of his bp guys 3 out of 4 days. Except Coke. Now Coke is gone.
