Pending a physical the Yanks will sign Chan Ho Park. Apparently it will be a big league deal for 1.2/1yr. When they actually do sign him, they will have to move someone off their 40. And a crowded bullpen just got more crowded.
I really don't understand this at all. Between what we're paying for Park, Mitre, Gaudin and Winn, could we not have found room on the budget for Damon?
"One reason the Yankees were reluctant to go for a two-year deal for Johnny Damon might have had little to do with Damon and been a greater reflection of what they think of Carl Crawford. The Yankees love him. Crawford is almost sure to be too rich for the low-revenue Rays, and the Yankees jump to the head of the class for interested teams. Remember, too, that the Yankees passed on Matt Holliday. It all seems to set up nicely for Crawford."
Speaking of which, Francesa said today that Jeter will get five years, and he said it with such an air of certainty that it scared me that he may have a source.

I don't think they thought Damon was negotiating in good faith. But if this signing costs Melancon a job, I don't like it.
We'll see what happens.
OT, but please tell me this isn't true:

Crawford's overrated.
I don't necessarily think it's about Crawford, but I wouldn't have given Damon two years in order to have more payroll flexibility in 2011.
Cliff Lee or another starter in 2011. Perhaps trade for an OF at some point in the next few years and move Jeter to left. No Crawford.
*Meant to say, trade for a shortstop.

Rather than, you know, talking out of his butt.
anything to us kicking the tires on Westbrook? Schefter on Sportscenter said we would, and it was mentioned in the paper today..
Not that I know of. We may trade for Antrelle Rolle shortly.
I thought Westbrook was told that he has had too many concussions to continue playing.
I like Rolle, and think it would be a very good pickup.
We'll see. I 'll start a Giant thread if they do anything interesting. Tendering worthless RFA's isn't interesting.
Interesting that San Diego is non-tendering Sproles, he will be a FA. Would be a nice addition...
It's kind of amazing that the Giants may need another RB.
Just throwing it out there would you guys trade Jacobs or something else for Cromartie? Then possibly sign an RB?
new Giants thread.
