Knicks Dump Jeffries!

The Knicks have did a little bit better than expected today as they trade Jarred Jeffries, Larry Hughes a swap of 2011 picks and their 2012 pick for Tracy McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a guy that many of us have believed could really flourish under coach D, and he'll have a window to see if he can. No one knows what kind of shape McGrady's in, but the point was the cap room and we got it. Also, the Knicks ended up getting Walker in the Nate trade, and he's a very athletic and intriguing guy. Not so bad. And they may not be done! Go Knicks!

Wojo now confirms Hill. Epic fail.

It's only one pick, we don't know the protection and if we have a better record than the Rockets they won't want to swap 11's. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Harrington gets traded somehwere.

pick in 11 may be top 5 protected, pick in 12 is top 1 protected.

The Knicks had to take on years of Malik Rose in order to get the 30th pick. The Knicks give up Hill and multiple picks just for having the Rockets take one year of Jeffries. They are the most desperate franchise in pro sports.

from Chad Ford
A source told ESPN.com that the Knicks pick in 2011 is Top 5 protected. In 2012 the Knicks pick is only Top 1 protected

If I'm LeBron I want the Dolans to adopt me in order to sign.

Hahn says we could be getting Shelden Williams in Nate deal, and Billy Dee says we got Landry.

I just want to find out if we traded Harrington.

Eddie House Giddens and Walker is the final package for Nate

There has been so much conflicting information. Someone needs to clear it up with numbers to back it up:

Hahn:

As you keep vigil in this ongoing LeBronathon, let's correct one misguided assumption. Even with all of that cap space, there technically won't be enough room to make two maximum-contract offers to free agents this summer and still fill out the roster without going over the cap. So those visions of LeBron and his buddy Dwyane Wade tossing alley-oops to each other the way they did last Sunday in Dallas probably are going to remain limited to All-Star Games and Olympics.

I think it will be LeBron, Lee and some guys who are perfect fits. But they can make more room.

At 6:14 PM, Blogger Rich said...

So he's right?

At 6:17 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Who's right?

I was just trying to get you out of that meeting with the Flat Earth Society over at LoHud.

At 6:22 PM, Blogger Rich said...

Is Hahn right or can they offer two max contracts?

Oh, thanks.

At 6:26 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I think they can get two max, but their preference may be LeBron/Lee and they may have planted the seeds of that with their press people.

Howard Beck adds some specificity:

Unloading Jeffries, who had been deemed virtually untradeable, and Hill provided an extra $9.6 million in cap room this summer. The Knicks will now have an estimated $31.5 million available. They might need $33 million to accommodate two maximum contracts, but they can clear more cap space by buying out Eddy Curry or by trading Toney Douglas.

per Knicks.com we did get a future #2 from the Celts

In an interview with ESPN 1050, Walsh was asked if it was true that he had Jordan Hill ranked #2 in the draft behind Griffin. He said no, he had Evans ranked #2, but he likes Hill, however, Houston really wanted him.

I think it's kind of funny that some media types are saying that people can't knock this trade while simultaneously saying that the Knicks are taking such a big risk that they must know that LeBron will become a Knick. But if he doesn't, doesn't that same large risk involved make it a bad trade because then they didn't know that he was going to be a Knick?

I think the fix is in with LeBron. In fact, I think last year the Commish had to chill his exuberance when he was gonna be at the Garden. That's around when LeBron said, "The Knicks don't play D." I think this is in the bag.

A foul to give yet again and they don't use it.

D'Antoni is not an elite coach.
