Yanks are apparently talking to Pittsburgh about a trade that would return Damaso Marte to the Yanks. He'd be a great lefty option out of the pen, so let's hope Cash can get something reasonable done, here. Go Yanks!
I was hoping we'd go after this guy. Glad Cashman feels the same. It's really too bad we traded him for Enrique Wilson to play second that year.
Completely off topic and random, but speaking of second base: Phil, with you connections and everything, were you ever able to find out several years ago who's idea it was to sign Womack?
I was that former umpire they had working down in Tampa. I think his name was Bill Emslie, and he's not to be cofused with Billy Eppler, the stat guru who works for Cash now.
Cleveland Plain dealer is reporting Boston is out of Santana. Phil, do you think they may re-approach us in a few weeks, perhaps eyeing up the Kennedy package??

Emslie was his name, thanks.
Phil would a Marte move preclude us from going after Jenks if avail?

I don't know if we're still interested in Jenks or in another shot at Santana. Hughes is off the table.
With Pettitte in the fold, our payroll has gone back up to $200 million. We aren't adding any more big contracts.
any chance we can pry Ian Snell from pitt while we are at it
