The Deadline Approaches

The deadline that Hank set for the Twins to take or leave their best offer for Santana is rapidly approaching. It will be Hughes, Melky and a 3rd player. Though Hughes represents an overbid compared to what Boston is supposedly offering, it will be the 3rd player in the deal that will determine just how much damage has been done. If Santana is healthy, it can be argued that Hughes is a fair central piece for him. It just seems like the Yanks could have trumped the Sox offer without using him, and that will hurt if it happens.

What is your gut feeling Phil?

Supposedly Olney is reporting that we want to pull out of this deal.

It's not going to happen.

Yanks need to turn their attention to Haren/Sheets.

Get some BP help.

I think if he's not a Yankee tomorrow morning, he probably won't be. I think they might just go after bullpen help and maybe trade some extra pieces for prospects.

All is too quiet in Yankee-land, which is leading me to believe something is up.

Francesa said earlier that he heard Boston has the inside track on Haren.

Haren will be a #3 in the AL East.

I wont complain if we get him and or Sheets.

Apparently the Yanks and Twins will have a meeting tonight and conclude business one way or the other.

Someone on BBI posted Kennedy,Austin jackson, Melky Cabrera AND Tabata. as the deal???? I hope in NO way is that it. Tabata and Jackson????

I really doubt they would trade all three or their ready or near ready OF prospects.

Olney said on ESPN2 talks hit a snag again, and Stark is reporting we maybe out for good.

Right now i have no idea who is running this team, no idea who is doing trades but they are fucking retarted....your gonna have to trade hughes for Haren...so let santana go to red sox, let us get haren and when haren gets hurt 2 months in...then what we lose hughes for a injury prone pitcher...sweet

At 8:18 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

they won't trade Hughes for a right handed pitcher.

At 8:27 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

so we wont be trading for another pitcher...while the red sox get santana

And we get Hughes and Joba in the rotation for the next 12 years. They're both gonna be #1's and by October will probably gonna be able to win us a playoff series or three.

At 11:06 AM, Blogger Michael said...

In the meantime though Boston will be extremely tough. They were better then us last year, so it will be a challenge to beat them this year.

At 11:08 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

we had a winning record against them last year, and we got ourselves a much better manager, and a much better rotation with Hughes, Joba and Kennedy making starts instead of Pavano, DeSalvo, Karstens, Rasner, Igawa and Clippard.

At 11:23 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Fair points. I can see though where some would be frustrated with what could potentially happen. Doesn't it seem Boston always interested in the same players we are?

it's amazing that we had a winning record against them last year, if that's the case.
