Yanks and Twins Talking

Most papers are assuming the Yanks will dangle Hughes. Cash has said Joba and Hughes are here for the long haul. Here's hoping he sticks to his guns. With Bedard, Halladay, Haren and others now on the market, the Twins should get less for Santana. We'll see. Go Cash!

I have a funny feeling we are going to land one of these pitchers.

I agree with you that Cash will not give up Hughes.

I see him being too resourceful to do that.

I agree with both of you guys that Cash doesnt want to trade hughes..but cash is not in control anymore this nutjob hank is and with that hughes will be gone

I agree with you. All the points you have made about his 2nd 1/2 are definite red flags. Is that to say we don't pursue him? No. As you say Cash is too resourceful just to offer up a long-term cost controlled asset for a few years. If Santana is the one we wind up with it will be on Cash's terms. That said I still think we will wind up with someone.

Hank's not a nutjob, and Cash is still in charge of baseball.

Sorry to say it but Hughes is gone

Cash told me Hughes was here for the long run. I'm gonna go ahead and take his word for it.

Based on all of Hank's quotes I get the impression Cash is in charge.

btw, if we were willing to give up Hughes, Santana would be a Yankee already.

I agree. I think the fact that these other pitchers are on the market lowers the return for Minnesota.

Phil if we traded Kennedy Melky and stuff for Santana would you be okay with that? If Heyman's reports are true then we could get him for less then what was originally speculated.

Yeah, depending on what the "stuff" is. I've always thought Kennedy and Melky would be the center of our final offer.

I agree we cannot go crazy giving up the extra "stuff". If we do wind up making this deal, whom do you think will be our CF?

It may be Kennedy, Melky and Tabata. I won't be too pleased about losing Tabata, but otherwise I'm okay with it.

I would not be too pleased either but all things considered. Joba Hughes and Johan is going to be a sick rotation for the next few years.

From what you are hearing Phil does it look like we will get Johan?

I suspect we will.

As I said Johan Joba Hughes Wang and Andy will be scary. I wonder what happens to Moose? Igawa has to be out the door as well.

For the rumored price all in all I would be pleased though I'd like to keep Tabata, this deal works for us.
