Yanks Pick Up Option on Bobpy!

The Yanks today did what we all expected them to do. They picked up Bobpy's 16M option for the 2008 season. This should work perfectly for the Yanks as Austin Jackson and Jose Tabata should be ready by late in `08 or early `09, allowing the Yanks to take the 2 picks for Abreu next offseason. The Yanks are really clearing the decks for another long run, the key is for them to avoid trading future "core" players for short term lifts. They need to look through their system and figure out which ones are Yankees and which ones are movable. That's the most important thing they must at least get an idea of before next week's GM meetings.

I think we hired the perfect manager for our youth movement. Good for the Yanks no need to be bullied or used by anyone, so goodbye A-Rod.

Signing any one or multiple names in 09 of Santana/Sabathia/Crawford/
Peavy/Tex or Sheets would only solidify what we are building towards. Crawford is a 5 tool player and would be a great pickup imo.

I like where we are headed.

We are gonna be set for a long time, as long as Cash remains in charge.

Crawford doesn't maintain a good enough OBP to be a Yankee. We may also be supplying all of our own starters going forward. We'll see what happens. Miranda is gonna be ready to compete for 1B and DH this coming Spring, so he could obviate the need for Tex...

Very good point about Miranda. I think you said it best in the title of this blog. We need to see who are Yankees and who are not, and I trust Cashman's judgement.

Miranda's defensive skills make Giambi look like a Gold Glover.

We are loaded with DH types:

Matsui
Giambi
Duncan

Yanks need to focus on pitching especially the BP. How about Kerry Wood to setup Mo in the BP? Girardi perhaps can sway him to NY.

Miranda can actually make the 3-4-3 DP and 1B is the least important defensive position on the field.

Well if that were true than Giambi would be the fulltime 1B.

Miranda is 24 so he BETTER be crushing the ball in AA/Winter League.

No, cause he can't complete the 3-4-3 DP. Ever seen Giambi throw? That's where he screws up the most. And 1B is the leas important defensive position on the field. I didn't pull that out of my ass, and most baseball fans know that.

As for Wood, he's probably gonna want starter money and years, and we'd be dumb to do that.

Miranda won't see the big leagues until September if he does well in AAA SWB.

Giambi will likely be the opening day 1B.

Yanks just have to get someone good to play 3B since A-Rod turned his back on NY like I stated he would and leave.

Rolen, Atkins, Crede, Cabrera, etc..

Crede sucks.

Crede + walk year before FA + Boras

equals

Monster year at the plate + stellar defense at 3B to get that big contract.

One year of Crede could be the ticket and perhaps someone else could be had next offseason.

Crede is incapable of having a monster year at the plate. Though, I agree that if we can dump Damon for him and a prospect it's better for our roster, and starts creating space for Tabata and Jackson.

Do you think with Tabata and A-Jack starting the season in AA ( I assume) if they do well, any chance either will be a Sept. callup?

Half a season in AA tearing up the league with the 2nd half in AAA.

I think they both have a chance to be September call-ups. Trenton will be the first park that they've played at in the Yankee system that won't surpress their power much.
