Favorite Comics Covers!

Silver Surfer #1! Apparently, one of the reason Jack Kirby left Marvel was that Stan Lee gave Jack's character, The Silver Surfer, to classic comic artist John Buscema. As much as I would have rather seen `68 era Jack do it and stay with Marvel, Buscema did an outstanding job. There was a strong Alex Raymond influence in his work and, like Romita, he was often flawless as he handled the Surfer, the Avengers, Conan, and, after Kirby, Thor. As for the Surfer, they started him out as a 25 cent book, then scaled him back to a standard lenth book, but he still wouldn't catch fire. Totally weird. Throughout the `70's people kept demanding him. There has been a Silver Surfer movie in the works forever, and in fact, in 1994 I switched agents cause the new one told me I could write the SS movie! But that was the last he ever mentioned it.
