Yanks: We've got a Briend

During the season, the Yanks hired Driveline's Sam Briend to do something for them.  It was unclear at the time, but it's growing clearer and clearer everyday since the season ended: he's with them to revolutionize their systemic pitching approach.  Thus we have seen Rothschile bagged, Aldred and Norton dismissed and who know what other minor league pitching and bullpen coaches have been marked for extinction - and which ones might be retrained. Briend has been the variable in all of this, and, most likely the engine behind their interest in college pitching coaches - presumably not just for the big league job, but throughout the system.

It's assumed that the Yanks will be big game hunters for Strasborg and Cole, but given their new approach - who knows who they'll be looking for - we could be surprised.  Hopefully, the staffing issues will be resolved before the Winter Meetings and the real hot stove season.
