Knicks to Meet with RJ Barrett Today

Wasting no time, the Knicks will be meetings with RJ Barrett in Chicago, today.  The Knicks will be sitting down with their possible pick, I guess, to see if the explosive, lefty super 2 makes sense at pick 3. Barrett and Ja Morant, the consensus 2 and 3 or 3 and 2 players in this draft, are the Knicks most likely picks if they keep the pick, come June. Barrett should not be seen as a consolation prize.  He's a pure scorer, and less selfish than Carmelo was. He needs to work on his shooting, but the stroke is smooth. Jordan had the same issue coming into the league. Steve Nash is his godfather, and can probably give him some pointers. And remember, just 12 months ago,  Barrett was the #1 recruit in this college class -- and he had a great year - averaging 22.6, 7.6 while dishing out 4.3 dimes per game. That's impressive, and he's much more aggressive than Knox or Frank or some of the other kids the Knicks had had. He could be a superstar in New York.

One last point about Lottery Night, Zion Williamson really wanted to be a Knick.  And that's a good sign for a team with abundant picks and cap room coming right up.

The more you think about it, as I said on the other thread, the whole one and done thing is ridiculous. This kid is so immature he could be great.

Decent analysis by Tommy Beer:

And:

One last bit of housekeeping before wrapping up; Dallas did not jump up into the top four during the lottery, which means that their pick will convey to Atlanta this year. As a result, New York will receive a 2021 unprotected first-round pick and 2023 (top 10 protected) first-round pick from the Mavs. This eliminates the possibility of the Knicks only getting two second-rounders in 2025, instead of first.

Williamson is saying he's a bit sorry to be leaving college, no doubt in reference to which team will pick him...he definitely wanted NY.

Michael...kinda reminds me when the Pitt Penguins won the lottery for Sid Crosby...if they did not get him the franchise was in big trouble...same could be said for New Orleans Pelicans ...
