Giants Add Mike Remmers

Mike Remmers' agent is reporting that, as sorta expected, Mike has agreed to terms with the Giants.  He is not Kareem McKenzie, but he has had average to above average success playing Right Tackle on Gettleman's Panthers and Shurmur's Vikings. He was moved inside to Guard where he struggled and got injured - then cut. Average is way the hell above where Wheeler has been when he's played, so even though this is not Kareem, it's vast improvement. I was interested in Shurmur as a coach because of his power spread O that created lots of easy runs for a back. They can run that now, with this OL. They still need to find some young OL depth, but they signed some in UDFA, and it's possible that one or two might stick, along with Big George.

The Giants have a Right Tackle.  I might finally get some sleep.

They need to find our about Jones this year because they could be wrong about him and their record may be bad enough to draft a better QB prospect. Do I expect that? No.

Jones is going to be good.

Maybe. He has to prove that.

If you'd been paying attenion to what's been happening since he graduated in December. he's finally focused only on footballl, and after his bowl win, got away from crappy teammates, restored his mechaniic and is just throwing harder and harder. He reminds me of Peyton, Eli, Brady and Rivers, and he's a better athlete than all of them, and he's a perfect fit for Shurmur's O. Moreso than Eli. And I wonder if he'll be allowed to beat out Eli.

I wonder the same thing Phil, will he be allowed to best out Eli? Remmers was. 1 year deal

Still has to do it in the Meadowlands in the wind.

And hitting Saquom in stride with a perfectlly placed short pass will take care of the wind.

Come on. He isn’t as sure thing; no one is, even if they excelled against major competition. There are a wide range of outcomes for his career. The best thing they could do is to begin to narrow that range this season so they know whether or not he is what they think he is,

Eh. I think I see what they see. He is a sneaky great athlete - better than Eli, Brady, Rivers, and Peyton, and he's tough as hell, too. He played throgh broken ribs and missed only 2 weeks with a broken clavicle. Years ago, he had a broken right hand at Jay Bilas boasketball camp. He participated anyway, and playing left handed was still the best player at the camp.

So, though he has Coach Cutt is common with the Manning's - he is easily as tough as Phil Simms.

I agree there is a bull case. I am merely less certain that will prevail.

Last year, I thought Baker Mayfield was the only franchise type QB, but also had a slight chance of being Johnny football 2. I'd seen enough of Darnold and Rosen to think they needed to stay in school. Plus I was concerned about Darnold's combine and Rosen's concussions. Josh Allen seemed like a project, and the second tier of QB's was atually more intriguing to me.

This year, I was willing to bet on Kyler, but as soon as Az hired Kingsbury that wasn't going to happen and a trade up for an undersized gamble on greatness would have had too much downside. I had liked Haskins, but he had a troubling combine and proved to have far less mobility than I think will work in the evolving league. That lead me to Jones, who just did everything right and dragged a horrible team to 3 bowl games. In the end I think it made a lot of sense. The market proved that (Denver and Miami passing on Haskins and no one tradiing up for him).

I think Baker and Lawrence will be big rookie contributors and we'll see what they let Jones do. I hope he's allowed to compete with Eli, because I have no doubt he has the work eithic to learn the playbook.

I have no reason not to root for Daniel Jones to succeed but I have very little confidence in this staff in identifying a good QB just based on them still believing in Eli.

I hope I'm wrong.

Billy, you do remember the national maelstrom that followed the benching of Eli during the 2017 season? Even if they wanted to move on this coming season, they couldn't telegraph it because everyone thinks they get to weigh in on Eli.

Solder had surgery to remember ankle bone spurs. Not a second guess, I do not understand them not drafting a T in the first three rounds. Negligent.
