One Week Till Yankee Draft
Not sure how MLB is breaking up the 40 rounds this year, but I'll be at the Yanks-Angels game when they make their first pick and maybe their second pick. The 2017 draft looks to be rich in prep LHP's and Fangraphs expects the Yanks to take 6'6" lefty Trevor Rogers out of New Mexico. Trevor, who will be 20 in October, is already hitting 95 on the gun with a make you miss slider and a developing change he has not needed yet. In other words, something the Yanks could really use in the pipeline.
In general, after always being a prep first guy, I'm starting to really prefer college arms. Even though Kaprielian is down, he was just about ready when we got him and guys like Jordan Montgomery (`14) and Chance Adams (`15) are already in the mix. Ian Clarkin (`13, prep) has been hurt on and off and is still at high A. I don't really care how old pitchers are, either. You can either get people out or you can't regardless of how old you are. And when we take college pitchers, they are further through the injury matrix than high school picks are, so it's a little less risky.
That said, the first round seems loaded with lefties, and a prep kid like Trevore Rogers, or a college arm like David Pearson could really upgrade the system.
Btw, Ian Clarkin should be promoted. He's got a 1.73 ERA in High A.

I still prefer position players high, but clearly pitching is always a need because no one can really fully foresee their susceptibility to breakdown.
Pitching, pitching and more pitching please...Top IFA's we sign are all potion players..
Has anyone been able to get a clear answer on whether or not the IFAs they're supposed to sign will prevent them from signing Otani?
Dumb as fuck:

Oh and their biggest draft successes by far since 1992 have been position players.
Actually, after re-reading, I realized I am the dumb fuck. I misread.
It was a very reassuring article.
YES!
Get the best available talent on the draft board.
Would love it if Austin Beck fell to us but I doubt it. I'm hopeful its BPA, wouldn't be surprised if we grabbed Pratto since he plays in Damon's backyard.
Damon lives in Tampa.
Judge is good.
Time to phantom DL Tanaka and call someone up. They simply cannot keep running him out there every fifth day.
Yes, I was just about to say that or something similar. In the old days they had the Connors' cure. I don't know what they have now but he's not reliably competitive.
My guesses nothing happens anytime soon.
Given the money involved, Hal should sit down with him and his agent and talk about options.
Rally time! And boy, were we ever wrong about Hicks. He's a 5 tool late bloomer. just like Cash said he'd be.
Didi blew the rally with a GIDP, and now we have Headey...
I like that he is showing patience, unlike Didi
Maybe Green should make Tanaka's next start.
Carter tine is up when Austin/Bird are ready. That was a horrible swing for a ball that nearly hit him.
Another Girardi loss for leaving Tanaka in for the extra runs.
True, but whether or not to keep him in the rotation is probably out of his hands.
Carter and Headley just aren't giving them much offensively unfortunately. You never want to rush prospects, but man, it's awfully tempting when those two plus Tanaka struggle so badly.
They should just activate Bird and Tyler Austin. Then bring up Gleyber after his next multi hit game.
I think I'll be surprised if Tanaka makes his next start. He seems to want to break based on his post game interview
Gleyber is not ready to play 3rd. He needs time unless you move Castro to 3rd and try Gleyber at second.
NYDN
Tanaka is slated to pitch next on Sunday against the Orioles as the Yankees look to get him right.
However, pitching coach Larry Rothschild wouldn't rule out the possibility of moving everyone back a day, which would enable Tanaka to face the Angels Monday rather than the Orioles Sunday.
Off topic, but this is truly awesome:

Since not enough of their lineup takes pitches, the Yankees have to hit HR to work the pitcher.
Not a big deal but I don't like moving Sanchez down in the lineup. He is too good a hitter not to hit before or after Judge.
Chris "True Outcome" Carter
Exit Velo is on the scoreboard.
CC was awesome tonight.
Judge just demonstrated hoe important plate discipline is.
