This Week on the Blog
Yanks: Montgomery keeps getting better, and today, he pitched 6 scoreless against the pretty loaded Jays lineup. While he's taking his lumps as a rookie, he's putting together some elite numbers. For example, this was the fourth time he gave three or fewer hits. There are only three other guys who have done that so far and one is Chris Sale. Once Montgomery becomes consistent with his lower body mechanics and command, we might have quite a bit more than a number 4 or 5 starter. His ERA is now under 4. Btw, the draft starts a week from Monday and I'll be down in Anaheim watching the Yanks, so coverage might be a little light on the first night.
Giants: The Giants are moving through OTA's smoothly, even with some absences, and for no particular reason, I'm starting to think they want Davis Webb to win the backup job. He's been featured a bit in the Giants.com coverage, and do we really expect a team with title hopes to carry three QB's on the roster? I don't. Compulsory minicamp is a little more than a week away, and everyone should be there.
Rangers: The Rangers revealed that Hank hurt his knee in the championshipts. I was a little pissed that he played in them at all, given his season, but that is ridiculous. It's about two more weeks till the Rangers have to hand in their protected list for the needless expansion draft, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some housekeeping trades before that.
Knicks: The Knicks still haven't settled the KP nonsense, and are reportedly interested in adding more picks. That would be good. There aren't really any Melo rumors, but they really do have to move him if they want any sort of an effective rebuild
Well, that's about it, and let's hope the Yanks keep winning. Have a great one!

The team won't even need to trade for a starter at the deadline if Tanaka pulls it together and everyone else is keeps performing as they are.
Clippard has been getting exposed.
So now, via ESPN, we are being led to believe that OBJ's absences are all about contract. If I'm the NYG, does that lack of participation and sole focus on money persuade mean to lose any leverage I have over him by guaranteeing him the richest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history? No.
