Knicks Stand Pat at the Deadline

The Knicks, today, recommited themselves to wasting the second season of KP's development with a no-pass point guard.  Apparently, they walked away from a Rose for Rubio deal when the TWolves wouldn't sweeten the pot. Not only that, but they failed to add any other assets so they'll have to try again in June.  The best remaining thing that could happen would be for them to continue to lose then get lucky in the lottery - where they will almost be forced to pick or reach for a PG who might be inclined to pass the ball  to KP and Willy. Suboptimal.

I think Knicks were smart to pass on a straight up Rubio/Rose deal. IMO Rose is the better player, Rubio also is signed for 2 more years(so we are assisting with a contract dump). Rose is FA which is actually an Asset. So Knicks were giving up the better player and contract for really nothing? Not the Knicks fault the Wolves were trying to take advantage here..

I did hear they were trying to package Jennings/O'Quinn for a #1, would have been nice.

Think Anthony will be packaged off season, root for Boston to get illuminated early, Butler to go anywhere but Boston and George to get traded to LA off season. Boston has the picks/youth we need, with the other stars traded, they are left with Anthony..

Rubio can't shoot, gets hurt often, and has another year on his deal. Melo will decide when he gets moved.

Again, as much is Phil Jackson is frustrating as hell, he has only had one first round pick in three seasons through no fault of his own. That's the most common way to build a team. Dolan, on the other hand, has made this franchise even more toxic than it was.

What I don't understand is why Boston would want Anthony. They're building for a dynasty run. The last thing they need is a talented but over-the-hill and selfish guy.

The NBA is a star league, it seems you need at least a trio before your legit. They have two(maybe), likely need that third. Anthony would be the missing star, can score at will and be the veteran in the locker room to help the young Celtics. You can't just have a team full of young potential and win. You need a mix.

Is Anthony really a star anymore as a full-time player given that he largely has one skill? He seems best suited for instant offense off the bench. Anyway, they are stuck with him, for good or bad, as long as he wants to be here. I think the LAC would be the most appealing option for him.

So they are re-emphasizing the triangle. Phil needs to coach. If necessary, he can do it virtually.
