Moncada Cleared!
OFAC has released Moncada to sign. Okay, Yanks, show us that you are still "Big Game Hunters" and not just "Big (old) Name Hunters." This guy is a must get. So get him Yankees. Some faith needs restoring around here, and that can only be accomplished by winning and being smart. Let's go, Yanks!
Apparently, and though MLB has already declared Moncada a free agent, they have another step in the process that they'll have to apply to clear him. Seriously, what a load of crap, and indeed, restraint of trade is this by MLB?

According to Kiley, it's the MLB holding up this process. OFAC had ready given Moncada a General License but MLB was requiring a specific license that OFAC will no longer provide. It's up to MLB now to conform to the rules and stop making this difficult for Moncada, Ibanez and Olivier
So he is still waiting for the MLB approval ??
Yes - MLB needs to approve the use of the general license -- they used to allow them, that's what Puig had when he signed but then changed it to requiring a specific license, which OFAC is no longer willing to grant since it's unnecessary.
So MLB should change it Monday.
MLB needs to get their act together. If this delays the bidding on Moncada, then it sure will seem like it was designed to limit the Yankees. I am usually not one to espouse conspiracy theories, but this case sure "smells" rotten.
