Yanks Still Have All Their Picks!

Thus far, the Yanks have solidified their infield, bullpen and more or less the rotation - plus gotten that back up first baseman they were wining about not having over the summer (poor Roller).   And they've done all of this without signing any FA's who'd had qualifying offers.  Thus they still have all of their picks, including the first round sandwich pick they got for DRob.    That's superb new for draft watchers, since it means the Yanks will not only get to pick closer to the top than they have in years, but they will also have a big draft pool, and easily over 8M to spread around the top 10 rounds.   That will probably mean more preps again and keelp them from having a two tiered MiL system.   All really good news.

Any team could have taken roller if they wanted and didn't . As i have said he's a great kid but I thunk you over value him.

I think you undervalue OBP and SLG.

Btw, it may be significant that the Yanks didn't complete the Eovaldi trade until after it was learned Maeda wouldn't be posted.

I think Sanchez may end at 1B at some point. But here's the thing about Roller or Pirela or whomever. There have been other offseasons where it seems like maybe they're going to shift and do something with the future in mind, But then things get a little tough in the regular season and they stay with shitty veterans. So again it's about folliw through. Let's see what they do. It iis not like we have a choice.

Others say he's an average 1B and not a Giambi type problem there.

I watched him first hand over 20 times this year and IMO he would be strung up by his infielders because beyond limited range Kyle has no picking ability at all. Roberto Duran ..Hands of stone.Nothing worse then watching a guy make a diving stab get to his feet and one hop the throw but the first basemen can't handle the throw. Not from lack of trying though .Kyle is a hard worker for sure.

I want to see offense and more offense after recent seasons of limp bats.

Good to see we are keeping the picks, think the Yanks see the benefit of the 3 - 1st round picks a few years ago.
