Yankees: The Cold Stove?
Can't find my cold stove picture I use around now every year. Oh, well. No worries, because I am glad it is cold, and hope it only warms up for internationals, this time around. And, by the way, the major downside of sitting tight has not been witnessing what other teams have done, it's been seeing the incredible number of columns and mentions of the Yanks signing career minor leaguer Jonathan Galvez.
Let's hope they don't react and stick with a plan that preseves their picks, preserves their farm, preserves their bullpen, and adds high upside international talent.

Francesa thinks they will respond to Boston fwiw
Francesa is dumb as dirt.
Btw, he will say anything they do is a reaction, and since they are bound to do something, and have said they will, he will claim he is right.
It helps them that they almost never seem to overpay (Theo's drunk 2010-11 offseason being the exception) and they can actually develop talent. Stocking up on bats is the smart move IMO.
If they sign Headley and McCarthy they are as dumb as Francesa.
They always respond to Boston.
Add on: At least since Cashman gave up the ghost of being competent and they relied on spending to compensate for his serial mistakes. So let's say since the 2009 spending splurge.
I think Chase is out of our price range now but maybe we still sign McCarthy
Unless McCarthy takes a short-term, incentive-laden deal, the Yankees should consider him out of their price range as well.
Just roll with Martin Prado at third base and let Refsnyder man second.
What are they want to do? Do they honestly want to compete? If they do they have to sign Lester. If they don't then why bother with a fungible pitcher with intermittent shoulder issues like McCarthy?
McCarthy pitched better than Lester after their respetive trades last year. McCarthy has had freak injuries, Lester has had cancer.
The market will determine who's the better pitcher, and they will likely price in more than a very small sample size.
The market ain't always right. McCarthy for cheaper and shorter will probably be a better deal than Lester for longer and more, though the pick doesn't come into play with either.
Also, I hope they don't give anyone an NMC.
ERA+ after their respective trades:
Lester: 159 (prior to trade: 154)
McCarthy: 134 (prior to trade: 72)
Career:
Lester: 121
McCarthy: 102
They're just not comparable.
I am sure Scherzer will be the reactionary move.
Any signing where they give up their first rounder will be idiotic.
Thats why Lester make sense. No idea what CC can provide.
It's a strange situation to be in because based on need, Sandoval or Ramirez made more sense than any pitcher, but it's obvious that Hal doesn't want to spend big unless he is forced to do it.
To that end, I think The Record reporter made a good point. He said it won't be the RS that motivate the NYY, it will be season ticket sales, or lack thereof.
It's hard to imagine that this group is going to excite many people unless the corporate types spend.
The problem is that as mentioned, Scherzer will probably be the one available by the time Hal acts.
This Cuban guy sounds interesting 6-4 rhp who throws 100 mph.Yoan Lopez.
If a franchise is willing to burn around $10m a year on up and down players like Prado and maybe McCarthy and Headley, they should have the money to sign every young player with significant upside that is permitted by the rules.
I so agree , I would sign Yoan and Yoan and the Other second baseman with the thrombosis problem.Chase and Mc Carthy were good signs on the cheap but things have gone out of hand
Yoan Lopez has great stuff, but doesn't seem to get corresponding swings and misses. He might need a better breaking ball.
