Yanks Talking to Magadan

The Yanks are reportedly meeting in New York today with Texas hitting coach Dave Magadan.  I don't know too much about him as a coach, but I remember that he is Lou Piniella's cousin, and remember him with the Mets.  I remember one year, early in his career where he had gained a lot of mass over the offseason and was hitting bombs in Spring.  Then they said he had developed extreme skin problems in his shoulders and he had to go on the DL. Was always sure that was a PEDs experiment gone sideways.

They're also talking to Chili Davis.

I really like Chili Davis - I also read elsewhere that the interest in Minaya is only in a scout/advisory role -- he is not in consideration for Newmans role.

That would be good. I loved Chili the player because he was so patient.

If Minaya gets the Blakely role, that wouldn't be bad at all.

Cashy said he is going to fix all their problems this offseason so they can get back to playing in October next year. With that mindset, unless they find some Bondsian PEDs for their aging players and the aging players they are likely to add, their isn't a hitting coach alive that can do much.

Looks like Yanks were granted permission to speak with Chili Davis

On a separate note, another Cuban defector named Jose Fernandez is popping up. He played 2b but I believe he was a top level prospect recently.

Yeah, sounds like he's a 2B. Supposed to be good.

Here's my To Do List for this team that would make me less nauseous about their (mis)direction:

1) Re-sign Robertson

2) Don't sign any veterans that require draft pick compensation

3) Look to trade any big contract they can even if they have to subsidize contracts

4) Dedicate 2015 to integrating Refs and Murphy on to the ML roster, by getting them at least 250 ML AB each

5) Only trade Gardner for a position player under 28

6) Stop lying to fans about this October bullshit for 2015.

Becoming great again requires 1-5.
