Pineda Makes a Rehab Start
Michael Pineda began his latest series of rehab starts today going 3.1 innings giving up 3 hits and K'ing 4. I think he left a guy on for Tyler Webb, so he'll either be charged with a run or he won't. He threw over 60 pitches, so the outing wasn't injury shortened or anything. If all goes well, he'll throw 75 in 5 days, then either make one more rehab start or come back to the Yankees. So, so far, so good.

Passable if they hit a little more.
I am beginning to think that Beltran may be the key to the remainder of the season.
Although he would probably be back fully recovered about now if he had had the surgery when he was first injured, he may have reached a point where he can be effective again, unless he re-aggravates the elbow.
When he is effective he is still the best hitter on the team in terms of all the components AVG, OPB, and SLG, especially now that McCann is against the walking dead.
It has reached the point where I prefer Cevelli's ABs to McCann's.
Cervelli used to walk a lot in the minors. That's why I thought he'd be a great long term backup. But he just gets hurt too often and his D has regressed.
I think this is stupid:

Simple for NYY re: David Robertson: give him a qualifying offer. If he accepts, best-paid closer on 1-year deal. If declines,NYY get a pick.

Tanaka has been cleared to throw on Mon, as @YankeesWFAN noted. Yanks hope this leads to him avoiding TJ surgery and pitching this season.

I had Pineda down for 58 pitches. Wonder why they pulled him before 65.
I also wonder if he gets only 1 more rehab start - up to 75 pitches. Then he gets to the Bronx and is limited to 90. Especially if anything is long-term with Phelps.
