Greg Bird Promoted to AA
Greg Bird, one of the best hitters in the Yankee organization has been promoted to AA. He probably would have been up earlier, but he missed several weeks with a bad back before starting his season, slowly. He'll replace the traded Peter O'Brien who was playing 1B for Trenton. Meanwhile, it lets Tampa alternate Jags and Dante between 1B and 3B, though they could also be promoted soon. Nice to see the Yanks getting a little more aggressive with their hitting prospects.

This is an important move I think. One of the A ball position kids that's ready to make a run out of the A and short season leagues. There's a bunch more to come. Very exciting stuff.
Praying we get through August without something silly being mandated by ownership.
They have over $172m already committed for next year and are at risk of not getting anything close to that in terms of value or production, so it's imperative that cheap, young players are given opportunities as an offset.
That's very true and what I've been telling them for over a decade.
And they need to protect their picks this year, like they did two years ago. So they must think foreign players and guys who were traded at the deadline and cost no draft pick comp.
Btw, now would be a great time for Mason Williams to wake up. That line up is pretty loaded.
Bird's plate discipline and power potential are both huge pluses.
Yup. And he could be a good influence on the guys who don't grind enough in AA.
