Yanks Lose Again
Yanks just lost the first game of the Drew/Prado era. It was a game against a guy making him MLB debut, so it was easy to predict that they would. McCann failed to convert some opportunities. Jeter hit a home run. And I guess the really surprising thing was that Capuano made a second Yankee start. It seemed a forgone conclusion that they would get a starter at the deadline. But they didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if they pick up Zach McAllister who was just DFA'd by Cleveland. They still need Castillo.

This game is the Yankees' season in microcosm. They just aren't that good. A mediocre team, spinning its wheels most nights, in order to satisfy the owner's twisted financial reality.
Some good news:
RHP Bryan Mitchell: 5 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 WP, 9/0 GB/FB – 62 of 96 pitches were strikes (65%) … is he the number six starter right now?
LHP Manny Banuelos: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 4/4 GB/FB — 47 of 80 pitches were strikes (59%) … 14 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 11 K in his last three starts
Mitchell has pitched well in AAA, if he gets a few more great starts in, they'll probably call him up. He has great stuff.
And Banuelos is turning back into Manny Banny!

That's good news about Tanaka.
z-mac was placed on optional waivers, which is different from being unconditionally outrighted... so he's still on the tribe's 40-man
Thanks.
