Rangers: The Fourth Line

It looks like the successful 4th line of our Championship Rangers is being decimated by a trade and free agency.   On Thursday or Friday Dorsett was traded, and now it looks like Boyle and Dom Moore could be asking for much more than the Rangers are willing to pay in roles for Boyle and money/term for Dom Moore.    They may be able to bring back Carcillo.

This unfortunate but no tragedy.   Ideally, the Rangers would have traded Boyle's negotiating rights, and retained Moore instead of Carcillo.    Going forward, it would have been great to have Moore center two kids every year and the sort of Captain of the fourth line, while training them up in all aspects at the same time.

I'm not sure Carcillo is who we want taking that role, but the 4th line should always feature at least two kids going forward.   It's a way to break in the kids away for the one year contracts the Rangers keep handing out the third liners.

Heck, if Moore is going, I'd let Carcillo go, too, or keep him on the bench depending on opposition,  and roll three rookies on the fourth line next year.  Both Miller and Lindgberg are C's by nature.
