Yankees And Cashman's Latest Creepiness

Yikes.  Last night Brian Cashman was still talking about adding another starting pitcher.   This was after Nuno was great Friday, Tanaka was great - except for a mistake - last night, and the farm had starters in Tripe A throw 7 1 hit innings, in high A throw 6 no-hit innings and in low A throw 6 1-hit innings these past few days.   Oh, and CC made a high A rehab start last night, and just needs two more.   Oh and Nik Turley is recovered and just a 40 man roster move away.   The prognosis for pitching -- if he sits on his hands -- is good.

Hitting is the problem and it's solution might be at AAA where Refsnyder, Pirella and Roller are all rolling.

In any trade the Yanks make for pitching the other team is going to ask for the top of the farm.   They're going to want Severino or Clarkin or both.  Plus, they will want Sanchez or Judge or both or Jagielo or Cave or both, etc. etc.     He's not going to be able to make a trade for a starter that doesn't really hurt the team going forward.   This is scary stuff.

This is how I look at it, since I am a powerless fan.

Ideally, the only trades I would want to see, as I have said, is to balance out the system, trading young depth for young need.

But that is probably beyond unlikely.

So being realistic in terms of the jerk GM's way of doing things, I hope he goes for youngish, in their prime, high quality players first.

Even an idiot can see that offense if the need, but since the GM probably is an idiot, that may not be the way they go.

That manes Price or Samardzija if the are trading top prospects for pitching.

Again, I think it's dumb and they would be held up, but at least you are getting youngish high quality.

Do I expect that to happen? No. Last year, the idiot GM was outbid for Ryan Dempster, who sucks.

I expect that kind of target, and an overpay again.

I would love to be wrong. I would love to eat crow.

But this GM is Scott Layden/Glen Gruwald bad, but who has been able to buy is way out of his mistakes.

And the dumbass owner and Levine keep letting him.

Yankees offered to eat $4.5M of Ichiro’s salary in trade with Astros
By Michael Axisa
According to information allegedly leaked from the Astros’ proprietary “Ground Control” database, the Yankees offered to eat $4.5M of Ichiro Suzuki’s $6.5M salary in order to facilitate a trade with Houston at some point before the season. They also called to ask about a trade involving Chris Stewart before sending him to the Pirates. The leaked info was posted on Anonbin and dug up by Deadspin.

We heard the Yankees were willing to eat salary to move Ichiro all winter, so this isn’t a surprise. Now we just know exactly how much. More importantly, holy crap someone leaked a bunch of trade chatter from a team’s internal database. It reads like a fantasy league message board too — we’ll trade our okay veteran for your top prospect, stuff like that. Here’s the link again. Make sure you check it out. This kind of leak should never ever ever happen. ·

Yet they still play him.

The idiot speaks:

“I’m ready to rock-and-roll,” Cashman said. “Those who have are taking their time and I think certain pieces — and it’s been communicated if they get what they want, which would be a extreme call — then they’re ready to move sooner than later. For those who want to step up and really pay the price, obviously it’s going to be a higher price.”

Girardi manages as tight as a drum when the pressure gets turned up. That's why Betances is out of gas right now.

He's like Torre and he will burn out his pen, just like Torre always did from`02 on.

I hope this isn't being done to inflate his trade value.
