As the Cally Turns

The latest news is that Cally's agent has talked to one other club, but is working hard to keep the Rangers captain with the Rangers.     The belief seems to be that the Rangers are at 30 for 5 and Callahan wants 42 for 7.   I think the Rangers can't really afford to compromise here.  Giving Cally even 6 would haunt them as he breaks down and giving 6 million to a third line guy is already a little disturbing.

The priority here should be re-signing Girardi, who, after a shaky start in the new defense is once again playing like the machine we've known and loved.   Maybe he had an injury.   As I pointed out the Ranger system is long of forwards and short on high upside D's.   Keeping Girardi and trading Stralman is the way to go.

We'll see what happens.
