Dowell Loggains To Interview for Giants OC Position
In a bit of a surprise, it's been learned recently dismissed Titans OC Dowell Loggains will interview with the Giants tomorrow. Loggains first wen to work for the Titans as an offensive quality control coach under Jeff Fisher, then as QB coach. Under Munchack, he was promoted to offensive coordinator of the Titans after former Giant assistant Chris Palmer was fired late in the 2012 season. This is interest for a few reasons. He was also the QB for Arkansas while Eli was the QB for Mississippi.
First, he has no apparent connection to Tom Coughlin or previous experience with the Giants. Second, he seems to only be available because he's not very good (although, it's unclear if he was one of the coaches that Munchack was being urged to fire). And third, he's just 33 which would make him one of if not the youngest coach on the Giants staff.
Looking deeper, some veteran QB's like Kerry Collins and Matt Hasselbeck had career comebacks and some of their best seasons under Loggains tutelage. He's also brought Jake Locker along, even though Jake's had some injuries. I think the work he did reviving Kerry Collins and Matt Hasselbeck is why he is on the Giants radar. Also, because he did work under Chris Palmer before replacing him,
We'll see if this is significant. As I said yesterday, I think there's a possibility that the Giants will bring in Sullivan as the QB coach again or as the OC and someone else as either OC or QB coach. We'll see, but Loggains is kind of interesting.

Definitely some outside the box thinking here. I like it. I wonder if Hue Jackson will get a look?
