Closing in on Kuroda
As the day begins, reports are that the Yanks are close to re-signing Hiroki Kuroda, who was their ace for most of last season. I got to see him against the Dodgers, in a game where he dueled Clayton Kershaw, and the Yanks won. He'll still need more help in the rotation, and perhaps in the pen. Meanwhile, that may have become harder to come by as MLB and Japanese baseball came to an agreement ruling that top bids for posted players could not exceed 20M, and if multiple teams bid 20M, they can all negotiate with the player. This might make it harder for the Yanks to get Tanaka, unless he really wants to be a Yankee or they decide to blow by 189.
In other news, Cano's talks with the Mariners seem to have bogged down, and there apparently was no 10/240 offer. His price support is eroding and he should probably take the Yankees offer before he ends up having to pay to play.
