Yanks, No Longer Down With OBP, Sign Kelly Johnson
The Yanks, today, continued their assault on their on traditions by signing Kelly Johnson to a one year contract. Kelly has primarily played second, and secondarily hit homers. What he doesn't do it get on base. He's actually had some decent and even a good walk year, but he just doesn't have the contact tool to consistently support those walks with a strong BA. Thus he uses up too many outs to hit his homers. But, it's only a 1 year deal, when he makes contact he could do a lot of damage in YS, and unless Cano signs elsewhere or ARod misses lots of time, we probably won't see much of him. It's just weird that the Yanks have signed a third non OBP type guy.
