This Week on the Blog
This week should be pretty interesting.
Giants: Play today and either get closer to .500 or closer to a chance at picking some really good players in MAY! Yes, they've moved this year's draft to May. That's during a television sweeps period. April is not. It's not going back. That sucks.
Yanks: Looks like the Yankees and Cano keep talking, and something will probably get done there. Whatever it will be will most likely end up being a really bad deal. Cano is already 31, and he's always been sort of chunky for his position. Those type of players don't tend to age as well as leaner players. So, the Yanks will probably be buying one more year of prime, then 6 or 7 years of decline. They may also sign Beltran. Also, the Winter Meetings have to start at some point, and maybe they'll make a trade or finally bid on Tanaka.
Rangers: Onward and upward. This is an interesting Ranger team capable of underachieving, or looking solid and exciting, like they did yesterday. They need to add more toughness. That's tricky, because if it's through trade it will have to be for a guy who can play. Unlike John Scott, and one who can stay healthy, unlike Ryan Clowe. Michael Del Zotto may have helped his trade stock yesterday by finally playing his natural side and scoring a PP goal from a slap shot. Say, haven't the Rangers been looking for someone who could do that? More games this week.
Knicks: I won't be writing about them till they a) win some games b) fire the coach c) make roster moves. I can't get excited about a bad team with no first round pick at the end of the experience.
Anyway, the hot stove and the Rangers should be fun. The Giants could be or they could get high picks.
