Nova!!!!!!
Ivan Nova threw 6 innings of no-hit ball against the Orioles tonight, which is great since he's competing for rotation spot with Garcia and Colon. What's most interesting about Nova is that he has developed a slider this Spring and it's showing signs of being a plus pitch. Followers of the system will recall that Ivan has always had a top arm, capable of reaching 97 or so, as well as a good curve and change. The perplexing thing about his minor league career though, was that he couldn't use all that stuff to create K's. He's got better last year, now, if he's added a plus slider, we might be getting something a little better than a 4 or 5. Its very interesting stuff. Go Yanks.

Nova can be their third best starter by midseason.
I realize that it's nice to have the depth that Colon/Garcia offer, so it's tempting for some to keep both and send Nova down, but that would hurt the Yankees chances of winning both short-, mid-, and long-term.
Rich, I suspect one of the latter two will end up being the longman.
I know this is old news, but I wanted to get some opinions about the Yankees' non-offer to Chapman. How in the world do they justify that?
Chapman came to YS and wouldn't throw after he'd said he would. Apparently, that turned them off.
Gotcha, thanks for the info Phil.
I heard part of an interview with Girardi by Waldman and Sterling on the way home from the supermarket. In response to a question about Romine, he said that they want defense more than offense from a backup catcher. It may mean nothing, but if Romine does somehow makes team, that could be the reasaon.
Gary Sanchez hit two huge bombs in his first preseason action today.
Personally, I question the logic of either player being on the 25-man roster for a part-time job.
