Yanks Close Martin?
Reports are coming in that the Yankees and Russell Martin are close to a deal. Obviously, the Yanks are just looking to scotchguard the position whil Jesus Montero gets adjusted. It would seem they have soured some on Cervelli, though. Still waiting to hear on Lee...
UPDATE: He signed a 1 year deal.

If I had to guess, Lee is torn between staying close to home versus taking the most money and greatest chance to compete in postseason every year. I honestly have no idea where this goes.
What's Martin's rap as a defender?
Is it really that close to home in this day and age?
Reportedly, Philly is in the mix.
Klap is not optimistic based on his most recent tweets
Klapisch's pessimism may reflect his optimism.
I guess he wants to be a Philly.

Michael
I did, but I was wrong.
If Philly underachieves, Mrs. Lee better look out. That is a mean town.
This Phillies. This is awesome, actually. It keeps Lee in the NL and prevents the Yankees from getting stuck with another long-term deal for a player over 30.
BTW, per Olney on Twitter: "The Yankees' offer to Cliff Lee was 6 years, $138 million, with a seventh-year player option for an additional $16 million; total $154 million."
That's insane. Now sign Pettitte and Webb.
Maybe a blessing in disguise. It's time we take a look at our own. Bring on the Killer B's in the next couple of years. Let's get younger and continue to strengthen our minor league system. I would rather take a chance with youth and spend on the Aroldis Chapman types. It's time to stop paying 40 year olds more than $20 mil.
Agreed. Missing on Chapman was just awful. No excuse not to get him.
Need to get Pettitte back and sign or trade for someone who isn't going to totally stink.
