Yanks Sign Encinas
The Yanks have apparenlty signed their 6th round pick, High School RHP Gabe Encinas. The lanky two seam specialist is a portrait of projection. Sitting low 90's now, he's probably going to add velo as he's coached up and fills out. The Yanks reportedly got him for 300K, which, if true, has to be considered a great signing. This draft will, at least in the short term, be judged by the number of the HS kids they can get under contract, especially the prep pitchers. Go Yanks!

I was hoping they would sign Kevin Jordan.
Yay, win.
A few things:
1.) Granderson needs to be shipped this offseason. Although I don't think we gave away anything that would've been a long-term asset for us, doesn't negate that the chips could've been used to improve other areas.
2.) Should've taken three games in this series.
3.) Phil battled today. Not concerned with a lack of velocity, as I attribute it to going a full regular season for the first time ever as a starter.
4.) Despite battling, he still needs better command of the curve and change. Phil, please reassure me that the coaching in the Yankee organization has what it takes to develop pitchers...
Bring in Guillen
I would hate to see Granderson's contract prevent them from signing Crawford if the deal is reasonable, but look at O'Neill's splits:
v. LHP:
‘91: 201 .254 .308 .562 (with Cinn)
‘92:.225 .279 .295 .574 (with Cinn)
‘93: .230 .279 .319 .597
‘94: .305 .439 .571 1.011
‘95: .259 .326 .494 .820
So there may be hope for Granderson.
This is partially an in game rant, but Granderson isn't even having good ABs anymore. He just hacks. I can't stand watching him.
Berkman sucks too. Call up Montero.
