Tex, Swish, Cano!

The Yanks took the second of their three game series at the Trop on huge homers by Tex, Swish and Mo. Tex's two run shot tied the game at 3, then Swish's shot tied it at 4. Cano hit the game winner in the top of the 9th. Robertson got the win after a perfect 9th. Mo gave up a two out shattered bat single on his way to the save. Boone Logan got two big outs in the 7th. Javy was just alright. Berkman was 0-4 in his first Yankee action. Kearns and Wood did not play. The win guarantees the Yanks will leave Tampa in first. CC throws tomorrow. Go Yanks!

Cano is becoming a great player, and I mean that literally.

I was at the Trop tonight. The place was full of Yankee fans. It came alive with Teix's homerun. Cano has matured into a great, great player. He enjoys himself, exudes self-confidence and has found just the right blend of patience and aggressiveness which allows him to find pitches to drive. He hits, hits for power, and fields better than anyone else on the team. His next contract will keep him smiling.

Fortunately, for the Yankees, that next contract is pretty far away:

11:$10M, 12:$14M club option ($2M buyout), 13:$15M club option ($2M buyout)

Rich, the Yanks signed a sweet contract with the kid. He is worth every penny, IMO. I wonder if shipping Melky out has hastened Cano's maturity and we're starting to see his real potential. He seems so much more focused at the plate than in previous years. This may be just the natural progression. Phil talks about the "27 year old maturation", but I believe the moving Melky has helped that process.

I think alot of his success has to do with Melky being traded.

He grew up and did not get wrapped up with shenanigans and finally started to focus on his game.
