Cash Shines at the Deadline
Brian Cashman showed great savvy in plundering two of the worst teams in baseball for Berkman, Kearns and Wood. He did so by giving up just Melancon and Paredes and adding very little in salary. Two more players could go later or have cash considerations take their place. Cash held onto all of the systems best prospects while deepening the line-up, the bench and the bullpen. Just an outstanding job here at the deadline. Way to go, Cash! Go Yanks!

They are low risk moves with decent or better upside.
As I said, I think what happens to Melancon will reveal a lot about their development process.
Since I really wanted Dunn, this makes me happy:

It's official. #Nationals did not trade Dunn. Just like they did not trade A. Soriano a few years back. #MLB
I've wanted Dunn on the Yanks for years, so have they. Never found a match.
Park DFA'd.
Red Sox apparently traded for Salty.
I like that move for them. He's worth trying to fix.
