Yanks Sign an IFA

The Yanks signed and international free agent today and it wasn't Aroldis Chapman. Instead, they signed a toolsy overaged CF who was coming off a suspension for lying about his age. Eladio Moronta is 6'2", 185 and possesses great speed with power potential. The problem is that he is already older than Abraham Almonte and pretty much ever CF prospect outside of Austin Jackson who is already in AAA. Moronta will turn 21 in December, and I'm not sure how he will really fit in the system. I hope he was a bargain. Go Yanks.

UPDATE: The Yanks apparently paid 570K for this guy, which is a chunk considering he's coming of a suspension. They must have a good deal of belief in him. Once scout has compared him to a young Raul Mondesi. Hopefully that's very different from the one we had.
