Unacceptable

Something has been wrong with the Giants for the last 7 weeks, and as we saw tonight, while they were once again being dismantled by a mediocre team, the proper measures have not been taken to correct whatever it is. Now, on TV is appears that the OL and DL are no longer playing at the level they have played at for the past few years. The RB's have to room to run, and the D's we face can play pass and just combo blitz, like we've been seeing. On the DL, the DT's are getting no push, so QB's can step up before Osi, Tuck or Kiwi can get to them. I don't really know what can be done with what looks like physical decline all over our lines, but somebody better think of something before the season goes bye-bye. It's hanging by a thread and we have to start a winning streak a week from Sunday against the Cowboys. Go Giants.

I have been watching the Giants since the early 60's. I have watched some pretty bad teams. This team is much more talented than many of those teams but this team is definitely deficient in one area that I noticed starting last year, toughness and a mean streak. Its not Brandon Jacobs running his mouth after a 3 yard gain or Antonio Pierce with a late hit and penalty. Its hard hitting at the point of attack, with the defense in the other teams backfield and the offense opening holes that even I could run through, as they have in the past. The game is won and lost at the point of attack and the smartest and nastiest team will prevail. I see our defenders waiting for the runner to run to them...they are not attacking the ball. The great Giants defenses always gang tackled because you had 11 guys moving towards the ball. Our guys are allowing the ball to come to them. How does an offensive line that looked so overpowering 2 years ago, look mediocre or worse today. Age? I don't think so. There is something that is too comfortable inside this team that allows players to lose their mean streak. I'm not real sure what it is but something tells me that it has to do with a lack of competition. Coughlin is very loyal to his veterans and has no patience with mistakes from his young people. That's why we still have the Pierces, the Clarks and the Blackburns playing a game that is too fast for them. Even Snee, who was one of the nastiest lineman I've seen when he first came up, has lost that streak. I now often see him standing and watching plays that he would have been in the middle of two or three years ago. This team has a malaise and I hope that there is someone in the organization that can clearly see what it is and has the ability to address it.
