Big Time
With 11 days left till pitchers and catchers report, I'm gonna go ahead and predict a big year for 6'11" pitching prospect Andrew Brackman. Brackman has sick, sick stuff, even coming off TJ surgery. What he didn't have in Hawaii was good control, walking close to a man per inning. His repertoire consist of a 4 seamer (97-100), a 2-seamer (91-95), a tight curve, a knuckle curve and split-change.
Obviously he'll probably end up with a regular splitter, too as he's already using the grip for his change. Both of his fastballs move and once he can fit that movement into the strikezone, he should be on his way, since he can throw both curveball for strikes. This will be a big year for the split-change, too as he works it in more and more.
In any event, one of the things the Yanks have been great at developing has been fastball control. They did it for Joba, they got Betances on track last season, and I'd expect them to get Brackman on track and turn him into a huge prospect this season. Let's watch and see. Go Yanks.

How far do you think Brackman and Betances can progress this year? Class A ?
They'll probably both start at high class A and I suppose if either breaks out he could make it to AA. If it all comes together for Brackman he could make it to AAA, though he may not have the innings allowance to go that far.
It'll be fun to see if one of these kids can start to command their pitches. We will be loaded if these kids develop along with Hughes, Kennedy, Melancon and company.
Brackman will be overpowering if he learns to throw pitches for strikes and can stay healthy. Perhaps a right handed Randy Johnson.
