Rest in Peace

Forrest J. Ackerman monster lover extrodinaire has shrugged off this mortal coil. In a lot of ways, 4EJ was the first "fan boy." He was deeply dedicated to science fiction, fantasy and horror, and was best known for writing and editing "Famous Monsters of Filmland," and first publishing the Perry Rhodan series of science fiction novels in English. Famous Monsters revived and gave new currency to the Universal flicks of the `30's and `40's as well as covering all the Toho stuff, and pretty much anything having to do with monsters. Though not particulularly an artist himself, he made being a fan into an art form, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by anyone who ever saw the Gill Man on the cover of Famous Monsters and just had to buy it. Rest in peace.
