Yanks Lose

This is tough. Between the bugs, the bloops and the umps it seemed like the Yanks had no luck at all this series. Several pitchers came up small, and it seemed like our best pitchers, save for Pettitte, weren't in the rotation. Brian Cashman has a lot on his plate, should George not go hairy batshit and fire him. Next year, the Yanks will continue the transition to a younger team, but I think it's essential to lock up ARod, Po, and Mo and pick up Abreu's option to keep him for another year while Jackson and Tabata get ready. It will also be interesting to see if there really is a new manager or if there's a new three year deal for Joe. I'd literally ask ARod what he would be most comfortable with. Try to keep your chins up Yankee Fans, great team, bad luck. Go Yanks!

I think Joe should stay. I know you may disagree but I think we need a shutdown starter. Wang while good did not prove he was a number one.

Hughes and Joba are gonna be the shutdown starters. We just need to manage their innings next year so they can do it when we most need it.

agreed. A-Rod is a MUST!!!! I think we lock him up. I don't know what it is but it seems to be we shut down by good starters in the post-season, and we give it up. A-Rod, Mo and Po will lock up alot of our money, but I still think more change needs to be made and youth to be brought up to the big club.

What are you getting at?

I think we need to re-do the pen. Joba will be a starter. Other then Viz who can we rely on?

and obviously Mo. I'd have to think Farnsworth is gone. Edwar needs to be more consistent.

I think Veras and Ohlendorf and Ramirez and several of the other kids will get shots. Also, I think Farnsworth really settled down and pitched well down the stretch.

I would let Posada Walk

I wouldn't.

I agree that the kids get the shots for sure. We need more youth, and I think Cash has done a great job of turning the roster over. It seems we go up against these shut down relievers. Last year with Zumaya, this year with the Cleveland guys minus Borowski. What do you think we need to do besides resign the big guns?

At 9:14 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I would give Posada 2 years not 3.

Just be patient.

Do we even have a prospect catcher? I think that should be a priority for Cash to find someone somehow.

At 9:15 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'd give Po three, cause he has DH ability and Cervelli probably won't be up till late next season. So figure one year of sharing after than and one year with Po as backup C/DH.

We have a bunch of catching prospects but the most advanced one will start the season in AA Trenton next year.

He really embarassed himself in the postseason, his defense sucked, his came calling sucked and his offense was just horrible, every time he came up with a man on he ended a rally....it would be a mistake to lock him up for 4 years, if ur gonna sign him do it for 2 years

I hope George does not get impetuous. He needs to let Cash do his thing.

Can we bring O'Neill on board as a coach?

At 9:17 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

George just needs to order an ARod resigning, and okay the other stuff.

At 9:18 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

O'Neill likes to hang at home.

At 9:19 PM, Blogger Michael said...

They wont keep Giambi on his option year if Po is DH. Matsui did not have a good showing either.

At 9:20 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Damn on O'neill, I think he could offer a lot to this team, but why leave his cushy job with YES.

Without A-Rod we are taking major steps backwards, he is number one priority. We better get it done and fast.

Do you want Joe back Phil?

At 9:22 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

It depends on whether or not ARod, Mo and Po do as a condition of returning.

At 9:25 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Mo said in the paper that it's not right that Mr. T lose his job, b/c we are the ones hitting and pitching.

I don't think George can handle that if Mo and Po left, fans would crucify him. I think he is smart enough to realize that he cannot have an Andy redux here. I think Mo especially is loyal to Joe as is Po. ARod from all counts has a much improved relationship with Joe. Not knowing anything on the inside I would say that Joe staying is a condition for these guys to re-sign.

The players will go for the money. They can be bought off if they really want to keep Joe but the Yanks want to make a change. We'll see how it's handled.

Madden in today's Daily News says George wants LaRussa for what that is worth

At 3:53 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I want LaRussa as well.

It is time for a change and I hope Rivera and Posada stay in NY and Pettite returns next year as well.

Dave Duncan who has been LaRussa's right hand man is a very good pitching coach and can help guys like Joba and Hughes develop.

LaRussa here would not be good

id give po a three/four year deal, but i wouldnt be thinking of him as a possible DH in the future, more like I would really make first base a focal point for him. The guy was a infielder and as his conditioning has gotten better his numbers continue to improve. You let him play first under mattingly's assistance and he could tack a couple of years onto his career.
