Homegrown Pitching Too Much for Tribe

Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Mo Rivera were more or less unhittable and way too much of the Indians to handle tonight. Phil was cruising till he ill-advisedly through a first pitch dead red fastball to Barfield who should never see another strike till he gets his OBP over .300. But these are things Phil will learn from. The ump sucked and Phil walked one and lost some strikeouts as a result, but he finished with 6 over 6ip. Joba struck out 4 over 2ip. Mo k'd 1 while he was putting the baby to bed. ARod hit #501 and the O was pretty efficient around a bunch of GIDP's. Go Yanks!

Tonight we had a glimpse of the future and it is looking extremely bright. The pitching made it very easy for Donnie tonight. Solid win, need to keep the momentum going.

I am guessing we will have some roster moves to be made soon with Edwar and possibly Britton soon. It will also be interesting to see if we pull off a deal with the Padres.

To follow-up from earlier nothing new on Rangers yet...

Anxious to see how we look tomorrow vs Carolina..

I think Kennedy is coming up to pitch in Roger's spot on Tuesday.

That means we would have to lose someone on the 40, wonder who?

Putting Kennedy on the 40 man roster for one spot start? Not sure if that is a wise decision.

I guess Basak could be dropped off the roster.

I would rather give the start to Jeff Karstens.

Igawa to Padres? Igawa is an affordable back of the rotation SP and would do well in a spacious Petco Park. Perhaps we could could get Meredith and/or Headley in return.

Igawa has no future here. If we can acquire those names Anthony mentions sign me up!

Anthony who?

Cle Meredith couldn't make it through waivers to be traded.

Karstens is a mess, we don't need him making a start, he needs to go down and get his fastball command straightened out.

We could cut Brower, Basak, Reese etc if we need a spot.

Anthony's post above mine

Olney on ESPNRadio said he thinks its slightly better then 50/50 we deal Igawa. Yanks just wont give him away, they are talking relievers he says.

I think it will happen. Cash and Towers are friendly and Cash probably wouldn't have put Igawa on waivers if he didn't think they could get something done with the Padres, since they had been talking before the deadline.

In your mind Phil what would you consider an acceptable package in return?

I don't know their system but I'd want two high upside young prospects that we don't have to put on the 40 for a few years.

I would agree with you there, as we have many of our own kids that will be on the 40. I think if we get what you suggest it wont be a total loss. Bottom line is he did not work here and has no spot here.

The deadline is this week for the draft signings, looks like we will get Brackman done which I like. Hoping Peavey is done as well.

When Sanchez returns are we projecting him out of the pen?

I happen to agree with your earlier post Cash put him on waivers b/c he feels he has a deal he can make with SD.

Romine is definitely done cause Betances' brother says he's already down in Tampa working out.

When I asked Mark Newman about Carpenter, Peavey, Storen and Holle, he said Carpenter was hurt and Storen wanted the big bucks to turn his back on Stanford. He didn't shoot down Peavey or Holle at all, and said more later. He was busy getting the top ten locked up.

Sounds like we may get Brackman,Peavey, and Holle. Would not getting the others be a big disappointment?

I am extremely happy how Cash and Damon have refocused efforts on the farm, and it's starting to pay off!!

We need to improve on the positional players a bit especially at Catcher.

Glad to see we got Romine done as well.
