Ranger Trades And Free Angency

After getting the best player in the draft, the Rangers are on to making free agent and trade decisions this week. NHL Free Agency opens on July 1st and teams have till then to lock up their own.

I heard that Robert Lang is possible for 1 yr if as expected Nylander hits the market July 1. Nylander wants more then we are willing to offer at this point. I agree with Slats no need to overpay for someone whom is a product of Jagr. Lang will do the same thing and not cost as much, providing more flexibility for other moves.

I've heard Gomez and a trade for D.

At 6:08 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Also that Lundqvist is getting locked up and Ortmeyer's being let go.

At 6:14 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I have heard we want a top 4 D as well. I heard Friday that we were close if not had a deal with Lundy. Orty does not surprise as the grievance does not help, plus the fact Sather does not feel he does enough.

At 6:16 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I would not be surprised if Prucha is involved in that trade for D. Renney does not like him for some reason. I don't want Souray either too one dimensional. I would love to pry Weber from the Predators if possible.

I would not be surprised to see Prucha or Montoya go in trades this week.

At 6:19 PM, Blogger Michael said...

If we can be a top line D-man then I'm all for it. Despite denials from TB there was talk about Prucha/Malik/Montoya for Richards which went nowhere b/c TB did not want to pickup salary. I could definitely see a package involving one or more of those names.

At 6:21 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

we need to bring back youth if we're trading Prucha and Montoya. We also have to figure out who can come up and score like Prucha. Probably Bourret.

At 6:29 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Bourret is quick, and I think he is close to being ready if not already. Have seen him play a few times very good passer and has a presence for the puck around the net. I think in the long run this will prove to be one of the better moves Sather has made.

Good Morning!!!! Should be an exciting week for us. I am hoping for a good week sports wise. NYR with free agency and trades. NYY get their act together. Knicks and possibly Kobe and the draft.

Looking fwd to a good week of updates and insight from Phil/Dan as always. I will continue to post my hearings on NYR as that is the only team I hear things about.

Here's to a good sports week for our teams!!!

First thing is First...I am no Eklund or Gloveone so if something doesnt happen please dont be calling for my head

For Updates:

Rangers- Barring something, Gomez has told the Rangers he will sign when Free Agency Starts...Rangers also want either Briere or Drury(1 of 2 or both if Gomez doesnt sign)

Knicks- I hear now Knicks might trade 23 pick and someone for either NeNe or Camby

Spankees- Dunn is being talked still but nothing is gonna happen soon the source said, the interesting thing he said was its so quiet talk wise like when A-Rod was traded here so he is saying dont be suprised if boom something happened out of nowhere

Cool, thanks!

Dan,
Good afternoon. I appreciate the fact you do take time to update. I enjoy hearing what you and Phil have to share. When I can contribute I can. You are merely relaying what you hear, you cannot control if it actually happens or not. I enjoy your posts, and always look fwd to your insights. Do not worry there will be no calling for heads from this blogger :)

Keep up the good work!!!!

i said in the other post...Chris Beniot has passed away with son and wife all found dead at there home

At 3:42 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yeah, that's tragic. It's funny, I was thinking about what the good things that come out of Canada are (because of something someone posted at BBI) and I was thinking about all the pro wrestlers that have come from there, and representing them in my head was Chris Benoit. Weird.

At 3:44 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

yea seriously...reports that he had to rush home last night cause of a family emergency that sounds fishy

At 3:47 PM, Blogger Michael said...

May they all rest in peace. The entire family.

At 3:48 PM, Blogger Michael said...

He was slated to be the the bearer for the ECW brand. May he RIP. Benoit was truly one of the greats

excellent find!! I wonder if these guys will be at the rookie camp this week?

At 5:21 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Rachunek gone, good first move.

At 6:40 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Yup, they're already having a good week.

At 7:11 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I expect it to get much better come Sunday...

At 8:30 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Looks like we re-signed Nylander....

At 9:10 AM, Blogger Michael said...

looks like 3 yrs 16 mil for Nylander. Now we forge ahead for Gomez or Drury. Despite reports out of Philly, I still think we get Gomez.

At 9:35 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Confirmed what I heard last week. Lundy has reupped as well. Gomez is the focus.

At 9:44 AM, Blogger Michael said...

no terms on Lundy however as yet, as they are still being worked on but he will return with multi-yr deal

At 10:12 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

3 16M for Nylander is insane! That's 5.33 a season and I can't believe they'd go that high.

At 10:22 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I agree that it is crazy. I also heard that it could wind up being a 2 yr deal with an option for 3.

The deal should be finalized in the next few days. Have you heard anything new on Gomez and the D? I have heard same things about Gomez as previously that he is still the priority.

At 10:23 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I've always heard Gomez.

If 3 16M is real, I don't believe we can do as much as I'd hoped.

At 10:28 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I am hoping that 3 for 16 is wrong. That was the number I was given and, I said that is way too high. I asked my contact to re-check that number. I will keep you updated once I can re-confirm that.

At 12:48 PM, Blogger Michael said...

More info. My contact said the number will be closer to 3 yrs 8.9 mil. Dellapina says he spoke to the agent with no deal as yet, but he was researching. I heard it was close if not done.

At 12:49 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Apologies for the inflated number earlier he had been given wrong info.

At 12:50 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

the 3 years 8.9 is his OLD contract. I don't know who your source is, but he seems confused today.

At 12:51 PM, Blogger Michael said...

The numbers are still being discussed I found out but they wont be near the 16 as reported earlier.

At 12:53 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I do apologize about that again, if he turns out to be wrong I wont use him again..

At 1:57 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I am working on getting my info from someone else this guy is all over the map. I do apologize

At 1:58 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

cool and thanks for your efforts, this place is becoming a hotbed of info for the 4 teams we all seem to share.

At 2:07 PM, Blogger Michael said...

You are very welcome Phil! It is my pleasure to help whenever possible. Yes I do agree this is a hotbed for news. I trust more what I read here then I do anyplace else. I always look forward to your's and Dan's updates. I will continue to contribute whenever I can. Keep up the awesome job!!!!

At 4:56 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I do apologize for the confusion yesterday. I was able to talk to someone whom said your original information was correct that Nylander is going to be an FA. I trust this person as he is closer to the situation then my previous contact. So now the fun begins....

At 8:10 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Huge offer for Gomez coming...
