Rest in Peace, David Halberstam
I have just gotten the bracing news that David Halberstam, one of my favorite writers has died in a car accident. If you haven't pick up any book with his name on it and read it. He wrote insightfully about current events and baseball. He will be greatly missed by this reader.

I was saddened when I first read the headline. Then when I saw that it was as the result of car accident rather than from a natural death the news reached another level of tragedy.

The Summer of '49 was an excellent book.
Sadly, I read today that he was en route to interview YA Tittle about the Colts-Giants Championship Game when he was killed.
