Reese's First Pick
With Dwayne Jarret, Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meachem, Brandon Meriweather, Reggie Nelson, Eric Wright and Marcus McCauley still on the board, Jerry Reese with his first pick as Giant GM selected overage CB/RS prospect Aaron Ross. Ross couldn't start at Texas till he was 24 years old and is still primitive in coverage. He is a good return man, but that's not worth all we passed up to get him.
UPDATE: Like every Giant fan, I have now learned more than I ever thought I would about Aaron Ross. Turns out, he's an older prospect because he moved in High School and the NCAA lost some of his records. He ended up having to retake a high school class that he had already gotten and A in. He got an A the second time, too.
I still wish we had gone WR or S or at least traded down some, but I''ve cooled off a little and hope we do better over the rest of the draft.

if it werent for the trade that happened right after our pick, i was alright with this pick. I mean we all watched the giants this past year and to say we dont need a CB would be rediculious. Evaluating CB is awfully hard to do, but if Reese says that this is the guy thats Spags feels fits his defense then I have no other choice but to trust that. What we did get was a CB who can catch the ball and make plays. Might not be who i wanted in Reggie Nelson but at least we finally addressed the CB in the first. Now lets see them go and get a WR in the 2nd and a LB in the 3rd and I will be completely mumm.
Any shot Jarret falls to us?

I agree on the pick selection, and am saddened as I was hoping he would fall to us..
we're in good shape on the Leonard front.
I sure hope so as it will take a lil sting out of not getting Jarrett

Reese screwed that up. Smith is a one year wonder who had a good combine. Lousy choice. Eli needs his number one not another #2/3. He's competition for Moss, not to start.
