Favorite Comic Book Covers!

Marvel's Captain Marvel #1 by Gene the Dean Colan. Colan was the master of dynamic use of shadows. Like Kirby and Steranko and more that you'll meet here, he was a distinctive stylist. I loved the Gene Colan Captain Marvels. The original story line of a Kree warrior come to earth were outstanding and though his name was borrowed for the old Fawcett Comics Captain Marvel (Shazam!) his story borrowed a little more from Superman. After Colan left the book, Mar-vell got lost a bit with guys like Wayne Boring (long time Superman artist) taking over the pencils. Finally Mar-Vell was reimagined by Gil Kane and brought to a new peak by the once really impressive Jim Starlin. If you can ever get your hands on these comics take them out of the plastic and read em!
