Less Yanks?
After two days of GM Meetings down in blessed Naples, Florida there seems to be little cooking with the Yanks. Now, I doubt this is ever true, especially now, but it seems like there are a lot fewer leaks under Cashmoney Green control. As expected, the Yanks lost out - by over 20 Million! - on the Matsuzaka blind auction. So, finding a pitcher or two to bridge the gap `til Hughes, Sanchez and Clippard seems to be the most pressing concern.
I hope they are leaning toward the second or third tier of free agent pitchers, and exploring trades. I'd be willing to deal Proctor, Clippard, Karstens, Rasner, Gardner, Cox, and a few others if the right deal came along. The Rockies are apparently interested in Pavano, but for the amount the Yanks would have to kick in, we'd better be getting top prospects back.
First base, back-up catcher and "bench" are still to be looked into. I think if they don't go big on a free agent pitcher like Zito or Schmidt, they might aim a little higher at first and look to add another impact bat...
