Giants Get to 80

Perhaps pertinent to the physicals and protocols the Giants have been doing, they have apparently decided to get to the 80 man limit earlier than they had originally intended to, when they said they'd be taking the 90 man split squad option. To get there they cut  RB John Hilliman, LB Chris Peace, S Rashaan Golden, and, recently claimed CB Shakial Taylor. They also waived three more UDFA's QB Case Cookus, LB Oluw Beitiku Jr,  and FB George Aston.

The Cookus cut is another monument to the Tanney problem. Not that Cookus was ever going to start for the Giants, but they might have developed him into a cheap backup or a trade chip. Taballnney is neither.  Betiku was the kid that was a 5 star recruit at USC, where he flopped, then when to Illinois and had a 10 sack season. It's clear he only showed the Giants his USC self.

WR De'Mari Scott has opted out of the season.

And Leonard Williams has a non-football hamstring injury.

So the upshot is, no split squad and Coach Judge can address the entire team for the first time on Tuesday. This is probagly for the best, but the Tanney talent tax has struck again.
