Yanks Retain Their Special Advisors

Alex Rodriguez, Hideki Matsui, Reggie Jackson and Nick Swisher will serve as special advisors to the Yanks this year.  Nick is the only new one, but it's refreshing to see Alex, outside of his big contract, and with plenty of other work, still assisting the organization. He has meant a lot to the kids, and so has Reggie. Pretty cool to have those guys around.

If they end up trading for another starter, I hope they give a detailed explanation about why Montgomery needed to be removed from the rotation. They shouldn’t overthink this.

Monty looks great and Sheffield looks like Gator!

Bolans’sTorreyes love should disqualify him from covering baseball.

Starting to get really excited about Sheffield.

Anyone’s.

So is Boone.

My point is he doesn’t walk, his defense is inconsistent at best, and he shouldn’t be blocking Wade or Torres.Wade can help. I hope he makes the roster as well as Torres.

So any beat writer who constantly highlights any solid contact by Torreyes, probably doesn’t know shit about baseball.

I don't see Torres breaking with the team out of spring training. Wade will start out if the gate and Torres will be up after April 16th.

I’m fine with that.

Well if it’s April 16 that’s just basically bookkeeping. I was making a larger point about competence.

There’s an interesting piece at RAB on launch trajectory changes attempted by Drury:

Drury said he worked with hitting guru Robert Van Scoyoc during the offseason, the same instructor who helped turn J.D. Martinez into a top power hitter and Chris Taylor into one of the game’s breakout stars. (Martinez referred Drury to Van Scoyoc when the two were teammates in Arizona last year.) Brian Cashman spoke about Drury’s untapped power potential last week, and Marc Carig spoke to scouts who feel the same way.

Marginal veterans because of their experience often gave an advantage during spring training; we might be seeing that with Espinosa.

At what point is Drury moved to second?

Or Just made a super sub?

This is no knock on Drury or the trade, it’s just that we got some talent it in-house people that maybe shouldn’t be denied.
