Yankee Pitching

The Yanks went into the post Stanton Upgrade looking to trade for a young controllable pitcher.  Of course very few things are more expensive than such animals as we saw last summer when the Yanks traded for Sunny Gray.  And paying a lot for one of these guys does not guarantee results, as we saw when the Yanks traded for Sonny Gray. Also, when they traded for Jeff Weaver, and Javier Vaszquez 2X.  It hasn't been successful formula for us in this era, and Gray is a very fresh sample.

What is also true is that the Yanks are now more stacked with power armed pitchers than they have ever been on the minor league level.  So all they'd really be doing by packaging prospects for Cole, or Corbin or Fulmer is buying a little time.  And that would be much easier to achieve by just bringing back CC. Not many people expected Jordan Montgomery to do what he did last year, and the system is not out of candidates for a repeat.  So let them compete for 6th starter, and don't throw good prospects after costly but volatile contollable pitching.

That's the name we are hearing the most.

In the event that something happens that way, I went back and grabbed the picture from my June 2008 post.

Yeah I think it’s coming, and if it’s for Frazier, I’m going to hate it. I would trade Gardner or Hicks.

I think Frazier is blocked for the forseeable, and, thus, don't mind trading him, but I'd want more than Cole to do so. I wish the Yanks had more IFA news or more organizational news --- something --- because they've had nothing since they traded Chase Headley and Bryan Mitchell.

I don’t think he should be, and Cole isn’t worth him. So I agree on that.

Not sure I agree he isn’t worth it. 200 innings of >100 ERA+ is nothing to sneeze at, especially on a team that had its starters fail to get out of the fifth inning way too much.

Big pass on Cole, he will get rocked in the AL.

The think Frazier will be a 120 OPS+ hitter.

Not sold on Frazier either. Too much top hand. Like Murcer in Shea, and I fear it's going to sap his results, like Murcer in Shea. Also think he's blocked and would move him in the right deal, but I don't think Cole is that.

How can we be sold on Hicks? He has had a few good months in his entire career. and he will be 28. Frazier is 21, and is still evolving. Look how Judge has evolved and he is 25.

He has a prima facie case of negligence, but it’s too early to measure his damages.

What would the defense even be? He assumed the risk? He was negligent for not avoiding the box? There was no way to secure the box safely? This case will reach a settlement, I would think.

Frazier cant play CF and is a iffy defender with a strong, but inaccurate arm in either corner. He is blocked. Plus, Esteban Florial will either start at double A or get there by May. If he starts there, he could end up in the Bronx and he can play elite CF.

Frazier does have upside, but he'll be in AAA if we keep him.
