Yanks Day 3 Preview

Starting in about one hour, the Yanks will pick 30 new players, and may end up signing 18- 20 of them. Though, they are now so loaded, they may sign slightly few this year.  The rules remain that  no player can receive a deal worth more that 125K unless savings from the first 10 rounds are applied, and it's hard to know just how much the Yanks saved in the first, though we have already heard that Sauer is signing and he probably took a chunk.

The third day is really where having great scouts pays off.  Over the course of the 30 picks, we'll see sleepers, and guys who've been stashed somewhere.  We'll also probably see the Yanks take a run at some preps. And they'll also pick some guys who have just earned the honor of being drafted.  They won't end up signing all of those guys, but it's good to stay on message even with the picks you won't be signing.

It's a fun day, and under the new rules the Yanks have made some noise in the early parts of the day, while also grabbing some scouting specials throughout.   We'll see.
