Rangers Trade Yandle Rights to Florida
The Rangers just don't know how to sell high, or buy low. They've apparently traded their negotiating rights for Keith Yandle to the Panthers for one solid pick and one conditional pick that they'll receive if the Panthers can sign him. And so, another one of their cup chasing blunders goes out the window with a whimper. I acually thought they were going to try to hang onto Yandle, but this move makes it seem like they're gonna hold tight to the RFA's. And that's actually the first smart thing they will have done since they started giving away 1's for runs but no cups.

6th round pick, conditional 4th.
Yeah, crap. And the hits keep on coming.
The win-now mindset loses many more championship opportunities than it gains, but of the teams we root for, only the Glisnts have been immune.
Depending what the Rangers can get done this summer, and whether the Yanks finally learn to sell, it's possible the Knicks will be our best run franchise...
The Rangers need to trade players (salary) for high draft picks. By creating cap space we can sign our RFA's and possibly sign others UFA, this team can remain competitive.
The NHL should adopt a salary cap like the NBA, teams should be able to go over cap if they've built a great team, not be forced to trade players like the Hawks have had to do and now to a certain extent the Rangers..
The big issue for the Rangers is their evaluation of Hank. If they think he has the wherewithal to carry them to a Cup in the next two years, they will continue on that course. If they think he's over the hill, then they should do a drastic rebuild. I think it will be hard to do a complete rebuild, however, because Hank's contract would be hard to move.
