Mario Williams to Visit Giants

Having left Miami without a deal, former pro-bowl DE Mario Williams is coming to NYC to start a visit with the Giants tonight that will lead into tomorrow.    This is the structure for a lot of the FA's they've entertained over the years.  Dinner in the City then out to the Stadium for negotiations, then a physical at The Hospital from Special Surgery, and if thats passed the guy becomes a Giant.    It's unknown, at this point if the Giants are planning on signing Charles Johnson, who also visited today and may still be visiting.  I don't think they'd want both, prefering a mix of a vet and an up and coming player, but who knows?  They may just be trying to get JPP or Ayers to blink.

Update:  Now Rappaport, who initially said Williams is visiting tonight and tomorrow, said it's expected soon, but no date yet. I wonder if that means there's movement on the Johnson, JPP or Ayers front.

Former Falcon DE Adrian Clayborn is also being linked with the Giants.

I maybe in th minority, but bringing JPP back is suboptimal.

he got an insane number of pressures in half a season this past season. And his prep was supoptimal. It's unknown what the upside is given his hand, but if a reasonable deal can be made, they should make it.

I'm not against JPP coming back for the right price, especially years, as long as the medicals strongly suggest he will be able to use his injured hand to grab.

I wouldn't give it to him because he can't stay healthy.

I think they'll end up upgrading both lines before the draft and probably getting a Safety.

They pretty much have to. I am concerned about LB as well.

So Williams wants $10m as well. This is why it's so problematic to build through free agency, but given Reese's long standing draft ineptitude, that's what they will likely do. #HopeOverExperience.
